Case Study: Frederick County Workforce Services
Situation
Frederick County Workforce Services is one of the nation's One-Stop Career Centers. Frederick County Workforce Services (FCWS) links businesses in need of qualified employees with individuals seeking employment opportunities. FCWS provides specialized service to Veterans, and works with federal and military employers as well as those in the private sector. FCWS needed a site that could be fully managed, which would implement with their 3rd party job board.
Consultation
Orases met with a representative of Frederick County Workforce Services to determine the shortcomings of the existing site, which involved ease of maintenance, navigation and display options. Also, FCWS was losing traffic to an outside site for their 3rd party job board.
Solution
Orases created a system with customizable navigation, which allows administrators to instantly update navigation as well as any content by either page or region. Also, data for users was sorted into a collapsible list, allowing users to view only relevant information quickly. An API was created to bring information from a 3rd party job board and increase traffic, without forcing users to an outside site. Keywords and metatags were put in place to help with search engine optimization.
Results
The new site works seamlessly with a 3rd party job board, which allows the traffic that was once lost to an outside site to remain on the site. Also, the new navigation is much easier to negotiate, and users are able to find information quicker and easier. Administrators are able to make changes to the site from any web browser, without making any requests to outside firms or requiring any specialized software, allowing extra control and flexibility.
